Good People! The third single from our new album is out on all streaming services now…
"Heaven Is Mine Now" is a big-screen, cinematic exploration of matters both current and timeless. With its unique song structure and big choruses, the sound carries traces of past & current greats (XTC, Lana Del Rey, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Zombies, Cardinal) while staking out musical territory all its own
Recorded and produced with Woodstock sonic guru Chris Maxwell. Iris Clementine sang background vocals and Phil Hernandez played drums. The cover art is a photo by our pal Sam Erickson.
We are unveiling a series of six singles over the next several months, each offering a glimpse into the evolving soundscape of our latest album, titled Dreamers of the Golden Dream, slated for release in early 2025 on Vfib Recordings.
LYRICS
They mocked Jesus as he carried the cross
Through the sweltering streets
Oh the dizzying weight
And then the soldiers cast lots for his clothes
Right under his feet
Oh the cruel hand of fate
I bet he couldn't wait
To get to heaven to make those people pay
Mercy on the mild and mercy on the meek
Seem so good in fables, in those Bible stories
Bend over, bend over and turn the other cheek
But everybody here is out to grab some glory
I thought they said you're strong when you're weak?
I thought they said you say the most when you don't even speak?
Seems the prophets never stepped foot in the US of A
Where you can see them flex their muscles
And you can hear them say
Heaven Is Mine Now
Heaven Is Mine Now
Heaven Is Mine Now
Get the hell out of the way
They mocked Jesus as he carried the cross
Through the sweltering streets
