New Jam Alert: "Oh Fat River"

Here's a little ditty called "Oh Fat River" that we recorded a minute back for the excellent short "Animals" directed by Jason Moore.

The song was produced by Jeff Lipstein and features Jeff on drums / percussion, Josh Roy Brown on lap steel / banjo, and Sandy Bell and Iris Clementine Koester on backing vocals. The lyric was inspired by the film itself and also by a solid decade of DelCo living.

OH FAT RIVER

Dip me in dip me in
I have sinned again
Scratch it off, laugh it off
I could win again
Ice cold rain, window pane
It’s the spring again
Reservoirs, junker cars
Let’s jump in and not swim

Take me down one stoplight town
Dirty water, won’t you flow today
Oh fat river, oh fat moon
Swollen up like a belly
Won’t you carry me away

It’s mountain wide and river high
It’s dirty water most every night
Like chocolate milk or sow’s ear silk
Oh fat river, won’t carry me away

Orderly, they set me free
From my job once more
Shut the door, it’s off to war or off to jail
Speedway pumps, do some bumps
Out behind the dumpsters
Me and you, Larry Blue and pretty Jessie Lee

Take me down one stoplight town
Dirty water, won’t you flow today
Oh fat river, oh fat moon
Swollen up like a belly
Won’t you carry me away

It’s mountain wide and river high
It’s dirty water most every night
Like chocolate milk or sow’s ear silk
Oh fat river, won’t carry me away

Brother deals, sweet four wheels
On my uncle’s farm
Do no harm, by the barn
I could tie off quick
Feeling sick and looking it
Here comes that train
Feel no pain, ice cold rain
Here I am again

Take me down one stoplight town
Dirty water, won’t you flow today
Oh fat river, oh fat moon
Swollen up like a belly
Won’t you carry me away

It’s mountain wide and river high
It’s dirty water most every night
Like Chocolate milk or sows ear silk
Oh fat river, won’t carry me away
